This project is turning out so much better that it would have had I been working on this completely alone. Since we are about halfway through the semester, I was reflecting on the progress I have made. If they have any other compositional tips, I would gladly take them into consideration. I would also like to know if they have a better way of getting the girl’s attention in scene 4 than the boy breaking the branch.

First of all, I would like to know how they feel about my transition in scene six (with the exterior shot of the forest). There are a couple of things I would like to discuss with my classmates before I move onto the final animatic.

Then, the credits will roll as the short movie ends. The two of them look at each other and smile. The final shots display the boy holding the head while the girl ties on the ribbon. An exterior scene of the forest is shown (I will discuss with my classmates about a better transition on Friday). He kneels down and presents her ribbon to her. In the final scene, the boy is shown walking towards the girl’s head. This week, I finished the last scene in my storyboard! I am incredibly excited to have completed this stage in my animation process, because once I receive my final critiques this Friday, I will finally start my animatic! Originally, I was planning to start my animatic this week, but I have decided that it would be better to start the process after I finish my last critiques, that way, I get a better idea of what to put in the animatic before I actually start. Still, as far as testing the waters go, I think I have been able to figure out a lot of what this program has to offer. I will also need to work on the coloring and shading, as well as the overall timing of the video.
HOTKEYS TOON BOOM HARMONY HOW TO
I also need to figure out how to export mp4 files (my preferred file type for videos). For instance, I need to figure out how to implement sound. While I am starting to get the hang of this program, I am still trying to figure out what to do moving forward. The blocking layer is like a sketch layer, but only to block out the overall shapes. The blocking layer is hidden when exporting the video. I plan to have another layer for sound and another for shading/color (keeping in mind that green will be the only color that is used). I am currently working with three layers (one for blocking, one for the background, and one for the foreground). This is what I have so far in the animatic. More or less, this week has been a warm up week for when I really get into working on the animatic. While I did play around with this program a little bit earlier this semester, I didn’t really have a chance to really get into it until now. I am still figuring out the different hotkeys and tools in this program. Still, since I am still new to this program, it took me a little while to get used to the software. I found this program much easier to use than Photoshop when it came to creating animatics (onion skins - hallelujah). All in all, I am having so much fun with this project and I cannot wait to continue with drawing out the rest of my animatic.Īt the beginning of this semester, I purchased and downloaded Harmony 21 Essentials from the Toon Boom website (at the recommendation of a helpful classmate).

These are a few questions I might discuss with my classmates on Friday. Should I shade and color my scenes as soon as I finish, or should I wait until I have the whole movie done first? Or should I have been shading after drawing out every shot? I also wonder if I should have found sound effects before drawing out every shot in the scene. Moving forward, I am trying to decide the best course of action. Still, it was fun to animate that little part. I won’t have enough time to finish my project if I animate every little detail, as tempting as it is. I had fun animating the girl’s head tilt, but I had to remind myself that I am making an animatic, not an animation. I was also able to zoom in on the girl’s ribbon, while maintaining the small animation of her writing with her pencil. I added a few fun things, such as the boy shifting his eyes and waving at the girl, as well as the boy actually turning his head to first look at the girl. I finished (at least drawing out) the first scene. I still need to implement sound and work on the shading, but other than that, I am pleased with the progress I have been able to make. I am starting to better understand how this program works. I still haven’t been able to export an mp4 file, but I have been able to export a file type I have been able to work with. Just like the previous week, I have been figuring out the program.
